Fowler Building

Built in 1939, Fowler Building stands at the southern end of the American Tobacco Campus, overseeing Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Durham Expressway, and the rest of the Campus. The six-story building underwent 163,782 square feet of renovation work, which included the installation of large expanses of glass and loft ceilings.

Initial work included modifications to the existing floor slabs to allow for the installation of four elevators and one stair tower.

An elevated platform just above the first floor was created to allow access into the building from Blackwell Street. Major openings were created on the first floor to allow for views into the basement area, thereby creating an atrium affect.
