John S. Stevenson, PE

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

John has over 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors providing design for all types of structures and is well respected in the industry for his contributions and innovative solutions for many complex, high-profile projects. His areas of expertise include steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, precast concrete structures, renovation of heavy timber structures, and multi-story wood and masonry structures. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from NC State University and holds professional engineering licenses in Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. Outside the office, John enjoys skiing, playing tennis, and traveling.

“I like projects that require creative thinking and problem solving from beginning to end—for example, for the new Catholic Cathedral in Raleigh we had to build a 60-ft dome on the ground and then figure out how to lift it into place on top of an 80-ft building!”
